The pharmaceutical company Roche organised a patient day on 28 March, 2019.<\/p>\n

The theme was ‘ How are patient organisations relevant to young people ‘.<\/p>\n

One of the speakers shared with us what she had noticed: “First, we need to determine the needs of young people because they can differ considerably from the needs of the elderly. For example, young people use social media channels differently from their parents. They also use a different vocabulary. In fact, their culture is quite different. ”
\nHer advice is simple: talk to the youngsters, analyse & develop an idea, and implement it. Take small steps.<\/p>\n

We have been meaning to involve young people in our organisation for a while. One of our actions was organizing special activities for young people (escape room and GPS treasure Hunt) during our global conference in the Netherlands.
\nBut we want to know what young people need and want. Please contact us.<\/p>\n

In The Dutch television program ‘ Over my dead body ‘ which is presented by Tim Hofman, he talks with people of all ages who will soon die. He does this openly where practically every topic is discussed.<\/p>\n

Tim came up with the following list which he collected during his interviews:<\/p>\n

  1. Be emphatic.<\/li>\n
  2. Be open.<\/li>\n
  3. React quickly.<\/li>\n
  4. Ask about anything.<\/li>\n
  5. Dare to hear about anything.<\/li>\n
  6. No misplaced pity.<\/li>\n
  7. A person is a human, not a patient.<\/li>\n
  8. You live until you die.<\/li>\n
  9. The patient is further in his\/her development than his\/her environment.<\/li>\n
  10. Euthanasia is negotiable.<\/li>\n
  11. Everything matters, not just the disease.<\/li>\n
  12. Smile.<\/li>\n
