I spent years hiding my birthmark\u2014covering it, avoiding it, wishing it looked different.<\/p>\n<p>Years ago, I made a decision: I wasn\u2019t going to live my life based on what other people might think. I stopped letting outside opinions define how I see myself.<\/p>\n<p>This is my body. This is my story. And no one should ever feel ashamed of how they were born or what they look like.<\/p>\n<p>May is Vascular Birthmark Awareness Month, and I\u2019m choosing to show up exactly as I am\u2014uncovered, unedited, and unashamed. What I once tried to hide is now something I stand in.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re on your own journey with a birthmark or visible difference, please know you\u2019re not alone.
