There is no shame in showing the parts of yourself that look different.<\/p>\n
Scars. Birthmarks. Surgical marks. Abnormalities. Swelling. Skin conditions. Anything that makes your body different from what society considers \u201cnormal.\u201d<\/p>\n
None of those things make you less beautiful. And none of them are something you need to hide.<\/p>\n
For a long time, I think many of us are taught\u2014directly or indirectly\u2014to cover the things that make us stand out. But why should we?<\/p>\n
My leg looks different because of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome. It carries the visible reminders of everything my body has endured. And while there are certainly days when I struggle with it, I refuse to believe that I should be ashamed of it.<\/p>\n
Your scars don’t make you damaged.<\/p>\n
Your abnormalities don’t make you less worthy.<\/p>\n
Your differences don’t make you less beautiful.<\/p>\n
You don’t owe anyone a \u201cperfect\u201d body.<\/p>\n
So whether you have one scar or a body covered in them, a birthmark, a limb that looks different, or anything else you’ve spent years trying to hide\u2014please know that you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.<\/p>\n
Your body has a story.<\/p>\n
You are allowed to show it. You are allowed to love it. And you are allowed to take up space exactly as you are – and you do not need anyone elses permission to do so. \ud83d\udc9c<\/p>\n
