Data Mining is one of the tools used to get your data. Another example is ‘ social listening ‘ where software not only extracts text from your social media channels but also analyzes images and ‘ emoticons ‘.
Another example is applications that can show on a map where you live and what disease (s) you have.
The new European privacy legislation (general data Protection Regulation) is a direct result of these situations.
