Visit family Garcia from Chili

Chili

In the first quarter of 2015 the global CMTC-OVM organization in the Netherlands welcomed a new multidisciplinary team in Rotterdam (Netherlands) is available where people from all over the world can get a medical diagnosis (unfortunately this is no longer free but is often reimbursed by health insurance in the context of a “second opinion”).
Especially for foreign visitors, this is also an ideal opportunity to make a holiday!

The first visitors to this multidisciplinary team in Rotterdam was the Garcia family from Chile (South America).

Below is their report of their special trip

Our daughter Blanca was born on February 25, 2009. She is the third of our four children. When she was born the doctors were amazed that a part of her legs, arms and stomach were covered with bruises. She also had a skin sinus on her back which may have to do with abnormalities in the spine. We were concerned about the situation and the doctors who examined her concluded that everything was in order, Luckily the baby was healthy. When she was three weeks old, a dermatologist who did not have much knowledge of CMTC, gave the diagnosis CMTC. On the basis of a book she explained that she has the potential of complications in the future.

In the months following, we had searched the Internet and found the CMTC organization. Lex has been very helpful to us. Blanca develops without problems. It has been running since her first year and learned skiing when she was 3 years. She is clever at school and she is also a friendly child. During her 6 years we had no idea what we could expect for the future. We have had many tests such as eye checks, an MRI scan and ultrasonic examination and from these studies came forward that she no major problems with the diagnosis. We asked questions about why she had problems with her teeth, why she bruises quickly and bruises more than our other children. We also asked why last winter she complained so much about muscle pain. We had many more questions playing through us.

We therefore chose to fly to Rotterdam and for an examination by the multidisciplinary team with 6 doctors that was led by Prof. Dr. Suzanne Pasmans in the Sophia Children’s Hospital. Finally we got our first real medical advice on what we could expect for the future. We were reassured and hopeful when going back to Chile. Despite markings being located on many places on her body, we were told that her CMTC is very mild and that we are to expect no complications. We want to thank Lex for all the advice and help that he has given for 6 years.

We have had a nice meeting with him where he has given us all the typical Dutch gifts! Thanks again!
