CLOVES is a rare congenital disorder characterized by localized fat deposits and congenital abnormalities of blood vessels and/or bones.
CLOVES is an abbreviation for Congenital, Lipomatous Overgrowth, Vascular malformations, Epidermal nevi and Scoliosis/Skeletal/Spinal anomalies.
CLOVES is not hereditary and the cause CLOVES is a genetic error in the PIK3ca gene. The diagnosis can be confirmed by performing a PIK3ca test on tissue that has been affected. There is currently no cure for CLOVES.
The symptoms range from mild to severe. Patients often have a combination of abnormalities. The most common features are:
