Prof. Dr. Oranje Royal Distinguished

Prof. Dr. Arnold Oranje

On June 27, 2013, during his retirement farewell, Prof. Dr. Arnold Oranje, one of our medical advisors, was named an Officer of the Order of Oranje-Nassau.

He is one of the very few child dermatologists in the Netherlands and has practised nearly 40 years. He’s not really retired but continues as a consultant in the field of general dermatology and children.

Arnold is one of the first students of the Medical Faculty of Rotterdam in the Netherlands in 1966 where he began his training as a doctor. In 1974 he began his training as a dermatologist and his PhD program in 1982. He is a pioneer in the field of Pediatric Dermatology in the Netherlands and has therefore had a lot of challenges to overcome. Worldwide his reputation is undisputed. He was involved in the early stages of many patient organizations. Arnold has also participated in the developmental stages of the Working Group on Vascular Abnormalities Rotterdam (WEVAR) because he is from the perspective of the patient and believes that a patient must deal with various doctors when a multidisciplinary approach is required. WEVAR has been in existence for 20 years in 2013. Thanks to him Paediatric Dermatology has been put on the map anno 2013. Arnold has organized several international conferences in his beloved Rotterdam.

One of his known views is that a child is not a small adult.
