Prof. Dr. Drolet brings forth a wealth of experience spanning three decades in academic medicine leadership. Her career path includes pivotal roles such as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Dermatology, Medical Director of the Vascular Anomalies Center, Clinical Vice President of Ambulatory Services, and Chief Experience Officer at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
In March 2019, she was appointed as the Geneva F. and Sture Johnson Distinguished Chair within the Department of Dermatology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research endeavors have been centered on breakthroughs in areas encompassing birth defects, vascular anomalies, and vascular tumors. Employing cutting-edge next-generation sequencing techniques, Dr. Drolet’s team endeavors to uncover the genetic underpinnings of vascular anomalies while simultaneously spearheading the development of innovative medications targeting specific gene mutations. Dr. Drolet has been instrumental in establishing and guiding several multi-site research networks focusing on infantile hemangiomas and vascular anomalies. Her lab houses one of the largest vascular anomalies biorepositories in the country.
Prof. Dr. Drolet’s work has received support from prominent institutions, including the National Institute of Health, Dermatology Foundation, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Society for Pediatric Dermatology, and Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA). As a former President of both the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and the Hemangioma of Infancy Group (HIG), her leadership has been integral in these domains. Her extensive involvement in healthcare administration, coupled with her deep engagement with children and families, has culminated in pioneering approaches to patient-centered research and discovery.
